In Christ Alone: Reformation 500
It is 500 years to the day on 31st October 1517 when strong-minded monk Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, effectively lighting the touch paper to the religious reformation that set Europe on fire. To mark this we have special services on Sunday 29th October linked with a short series of seminars looking at the origin and relevance of the great gospel themes of "Faith Alone, God's Glory Alone and Scripture Alone". These will take place in church on Sundays 29th October and 12th and 19th November 7.45-8.45pm preceded by refreshments at 7.30pm. The 6.30pm service will take place beforehand as usual.
Instrumentalists and singers needed
for our Carol Service on Sunday 17th December at 6.30pm.
We'd like to have a choir and orchestra and would love to have people of all ages involved.
are booked for Monday 27th November, Tuesday 5th December and Monday 11th December at 7.30pm. We'll meet on the day itself from 3.30pm.
If you're interested in playing in the orchestra, we will practice on Sunday 17th December at 2pm. If you can play an instrument but have not played before, it would be great to have you join us. We can send out practice parts in advance if you need to blow the cobwebs out of your trumpet!
If you'd like to join the choir, please contact Jackie Hoey or contact Simon Elphick if you'd like to play in the orchestra.
Christmas card delivery
It is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to 2800 households in our Parish and invite our neighbours and friends to come and celebrate Christmas with us. Carol services are a huge opportunity to invite local people as well as friends and family to hear the good news about Christ, and we are praying for many lives to be changed through the coming season.
Bundles of cards will be ready from Sunday 26th November. Lots of small groups or people are needed to deliver all Christmas cards to the parish.
