Serving at Holy Trinity
Service and volunteering is a key part of church life at Holy Trinity. Our church would not function without the invaluable work of volunteers.
Service can take many forms, from welcoming people on a Sunday morning, helping in one of our children's groups, or even being part of our coffee rota!
Below are some reasons why we serve God and one another.
If you would like to get involved, please contact our
church office to see where you could make a difference.

Why Serve?
We Serve Because He Served
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus serving. Jesus gives us a perfect example of living a life serving others. As Mark 10:45 explains, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
He demonstrated humbling oneself and loving others and the ultimate example is when He died for our sins. While we must understand no amount of service will lead to our salvation, Christians recognize the reason we serve others is because of all He did to forgive us. It is because of our belief in His love and His great salvation that we love others. John 13:35 tells Jesus’ followers, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” One way we demonstrate our love for one another is by helping to carry one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).
We Are All Given Gifts to Use
When it comes to serving others, many Christians hesitate. But God has given us unique gifts which can be a vital contribution to the church
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” -Romans 12:6-8
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." -1 Corinthians 12:4-6
We Are Parts of the Whole
Our membership in God’s church means we each have a unique role to play. When we all use our gifts together, the church is much stronger and richer because of it. We can all compliment each other in the different skills, personalities and traits that we have. Romans 12:4-5 explains, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
We Serve to Bring Glory to God
Philippians 2:3-4 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” It is through serving others that we will shine a light that will glorify the Lord.
God isn’t looking for the most successful or most popular person to serve – He is looking for the most willing. We all have gifts we can use to serve Him and serve others. We just need to be willing.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” -1 Peter 4:10
